Sam Hall erupted onto the art scene in 2004 with a series of landscapes, 'people-scapes', and abstracts. He paints in acrylics and watercolour, and describes himself as a 'colourist'. Inspired particularly by Caneletto , Andrew Wyeth, Paul Klee and David Hockney, he has been painting for only two years but appreciation of his attention to detail has already led to his works being submitted to the Royal Academy of Arts, the Brighton Arts Fair and several competitions. His works are already selling for more than $5000
ABOUT THIS PICTURE:
I used to go to the Meson el Tajo tapas bar in Estepona, southern Spain, every Thursday with my mate, Ian Hannay, until he decided to leave his wife and go back to England. In the painting, Ian is centre stage - walking out of the picture (somewhat prophetically, as it turned out!). Meson el Tajo is probably the last tapas bar in Estepona to sell exclusively meat tapas - with the hams hanging from the ceiling. It is a wonderfully lively bar,
