“For me the object of art is not to reproduce reality, but to create a reality of the same intensity.” ~ Maia Vasilieva~ These beautiful paintings originated from a special artist Maia Vasilieva who was born in Moscow, Russia and currently resides in Miami, Florida since 1994. At a very young age her parents introduced her to the great artistic treasures of the World Famous Museums in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Countless hours were spent at the magnificent Hermitage Museum and Tretyakov Gallery studying the works of great masters, the works of the post-impressionists, and those of the Russian Avant-Garde especially fascinated Maya. The palette of Matisse and Gauguin affected her interpretation of color, while Rodchenko and Malevich influenced her sense of balance and composition. She fell in love with the works of Shishkin and Repin. Her passion for art grew during that time. After moving to Miami she furthered her artistic development. Maia always pays extr
