He is one of the best known of the Art Naïf artists of Guatemala. His work has an original style which plays on traditional themes inherent in Mayan culture. He says in particular, "it is my mother and the female energy that has been my inspiration." Mr. Batzin has studied at universities in Guatemala and Mexico and has a PH.D. in media studies. Mr. Batzin is known for introducing the vista aerea style of painting, in which one sees the world from a "bird's eye view" or aerial perspective.
