This wonderful drawing is an original Lucien Jonas work. It depicts a soldier sitting on a rock in contemplation, much like Rodin's Thinker. The work is great representation of what a soldier endured in war time. A portrait is in the background and has color. There is writing with a signature on the bottom left hand side. This work was purchased through Frank Boo's Gallery in Troy, Mi. It has a beautiful framing package that estimated to be worth $250.00. The frame is a gorgeous art nouveau style with a double matting. A top mat of gun metal gray and a bottom mat of black to give the image depth. Total size is 23 1/2 x 27 inches. Lucien Jonas was one of the more prolific Great War illustrators. A gifted and talented artist, he was mobilized in December of 1914 and in February of 1915 was offically accredited as 'military painter secunded to the Musée de l'Armée' in Paris.
