Chitra Ramanathan, on the theory and concepts behind her working processes in her own words: I have long been fascinated with the subject matter of "working notes" as a mental journey through the process of making art, the entire progression which I believe is as much a creation in its own right as the finished piece. Just as every individual is unique, so is the act of going into the studio and creating art objects from scratch. Ultimately, the originality of the finished work merely echoes the originality of the thought as well as working processes that went into its creation. This fascination for the work-in-progress, both in making notes as well as the act of painting has all along encouraged me to explore my thoughts, methods and actions, however spontaneous, intuitive or even unpredictable the nature of the endeavor on one occasion, or a soul searching, meditative journey on a different project.
